Pre-show history Theresa was a toddler when her father disappeared. With her mother working two jobs, Theresa was raised primarily by her oldest brother, Antonio. Antonio disappeared when Theresa was a teenager, at which point in time Pilar and Luis then took over caring for Theresa and Miguel. Theresa was always a dreamer, and even believed she was a real princess as a child. As an adolescent, she would pore over the tabloids, and developed a teenage crush on Ethan Crane, the son of her mother's employer, Ivy. Although she had never met him, she became convinced that Ethan would show up at here door one day and tell her that he wanted only her, and refused to date in high school or even to go to school functions or dances for fear of missing Ethan's visit. The show picked up the summer before Theresa's senior year of high-school.
Romantic entanglements Ethan Winthrop  Theresa began a brief relationship with Ethan Crane in the fall of 2000. They were engaged to be married Christmas Eve of that year, and remained so even after Ethan learned he was Sam Bennett's son and turned his back on the Crane fortune, changing his surname to Winthrop. Theresa promised her mother that she would not sleep with Ethan before the wedding, and the two kept that promise until the eve of their wedding, when they decided that they weren't technically breaking their promise because it was after midnight. The wedding was interrupted when Ivy crashed her car into the church before they could take their vows and produced a tabloid claiming that Theresa had sent the information on Ethan's paternity to the tabloids. Ethan didn't believe the tabloids, but Theresa fled Harmony. After weeks in Bermuda (which was seen on-air as only 48 hours but the timeline later changed on-air), Theresa returned home to Harmony and resumed her relationship with Ethan. He was furious to learn she had married Julian, but forgave her on the condition that she stop lying to him. She soon learned she was pregnant but lied to Ethan about it when she signed the annulment papers. Although she had initially planned to pass the baby off as Ethan's, she soon realised that he would know she was not far enough along for it to have been his child. She planned to have an abortion but did not go through with it at the last minute. Unfortunately, Ethan learned of her pregnancy and broke things off with her because she had continued to lie to him (first about sleeping with Julian then later about her pregnancy) after promising him she would not do so. Although Theresa continued to pursue Ethan and there were times when he came close to giving in, Theresa and Ethan were never able to get their romance back on track. He wed Gwen Hotchkiss in 2003 when he found out he had impregnated her. In early 2004, Theresa declared that she was over Ethan and ready to move on. She took a trip to L.A. at the advice of her mother to get away from Harmony and Ethan. As it turned out, Ethan and Gwen were already there to see a surrogacy specialist due to complications with Gwen's pregnancy. While Gwen was in the hospital, Ethan and Theresa shared a few kisses that Gwen ended up seeing on TV. Furious, Gwen got out of bed and found and attacked Theresa, and in the resulting scuffle Gwen lost her baby. Later that year, Theresa drugged and kidnapped surrogate Heather Downs and had herself implanted with Gwen and Ethan's fertilized embryo with the plan of trading the baby for Little Ethan, whom the courts had taken away from her earlier that year after being manipulated by the Hotchkisses. When Theresa believed she lost the baby, she initially tried to get Fox Crane to impregnate her but he refused. Knowing she had only a small window, she stole a date-rape drug from Eve Russell and slipped it into Ethan's wine, then dressed up like Gwen and slipped into his bed. When Ethan confronted her about raping him, she insisted that the sex was mutual and that she had never drugged him. Ethan later claimed that he knew it was her that night, but Theresa has continued to hide from him the fact that she had given him the date-rape drug knowing that Ethan could never forgive her for that. Theresa continues to pursue Ethan and although he has given in to their mutual passion with a few kisses, he maintains firm that he will not sleep with her and will not leave his wife. In July 2006 she gave up on Ethan forever because she knew now that Ethan will never leave Gwen. Also in 2006 she found out that Ethan was little Ethan's father, but did not tell him for fear of losing her son to Gwen like she did with Jane.
Julian Crane  After fleeing Harmony, Theresa wound up in Bermuda. She approached a drunken Julian Crane, wanting him to adopt Ethan with the thought that he could make Ethan the Crane heir. Julian initially believed she was there to sleep with him as she did not immediately tell him her reason for being there, and offered her champagne which, after initially resisting, Theresa accepted. As the night went on, Theresa continued to drink more and more, and both she and Julian were completely drunk when they got married in the hotel chapel. Neither one had any memory of the night before when they woke up in bed together. Theresa thought she was with Ethan but soon recalled the events of the evening although Julian's memory never did return. It was over a year later that Julian, thanks to his friend Bruce, was able to prove that their marriage was invalid because he never actually said 'I do'. Theresa, who remembered that night, knew that he was right and ended up being kicked out of the Crane mansion.
Fox Crane  Theresa began a short-lived relationship with her friend Fox Crane in 2004 after becoming convinced that she was the 'mystery woman' that Fox was in love with, not knowing that it was Whitney he initially loved. Their relationship was short-lived. They were lovers for one night, but Theresa ended their relationship both because she had to focus on getting her son back and because his friendship was too important for her to continue to lie to him.
Alistair Crane  Theresa wed the Crane patriarch in 2005 after he promised to help her get back her daughter Jane. Theresa had lost Jane months earlier when the judge, disturbed by how Jane was conceived, had granted temporary custody to Ethan and Gwen Winthrop. Even though she told Alistair that she knew Ethan would never want her after she married him, she continued to hope for a future with Ethan. Alistair consummated their relationship by raping her, when she married him, Theresa agreed to have sexual relations with him, though not fully willingly. Although she has been intimate with him since their wedding night, most of the time she pretends that he is Ethan. Since her husband's coma, Alistair put her in charge of Crane Industries and she used her new found power to ensure that Gwen was offered a job that keeps her away from Ethan. Alistair's coma was eventually revealed as a hoax some time later, but he was eventually (presumably) killed in the train wreck, along with his insane daughter, Beth. With Alistair gone, Theresa permanently assumed control of his vast empire, making her a very powerful woman.
Jared Casey  Jared Casey is the new guy in town and he has set his eyes on Theresa. Jared met Theresa when she spilled her drink on Jared at the Blue Note night club. Jared became enraged and began to argue with Theresa. Later he apologized for his attitude and asked Theresa to dance which she agreed to in order to make Ethan jealous. Jared has given Theresa the pet name "Tess" which she doesn't care for. Theresa seems determined to put Ethan behind her but has yet to give in to Jared's advances. Whether or not Jared's interest in Theresa is sincere or simply a ruse to further an agenda remains to be seen. Lately Theresa began a relationship with Jared but it was broken when he learned she was Ms.Crane. He then realized she wasn't who he thought she was and they started dating again. Theresa offered him the executive position at Crane Industires and he accepted. They are taking their relationship to the next level.Jared took Theresa to a fancy inn where they engage in sexual intercourse. Jared does not realize that theresa has been having sexual relashionships with Ethan
